About this deal

I know this fragrance is hated on and even i myself ended up giving it away but i realised its only when smelled upclose.

I honestly think if this was released now as a niche fragrance for women and men it'd be loved (but still hated by some as with every big niche fragrance with a cult following). I’m also thankful that fragrance companies got their act together because if this was still the power player it apparently was back then, I’d never go out for fear of accidentally smelling it.

Still no revelation, very straightforward, simple and hardly changing - but then you know at least what you have. It lasts about 6+ hours, is weaker in strength, which isn't necessarily bad, and the scent is almost like an entirely different fragrance.

Every memory I have from mid-May to September is fogged-over with that cough-syrup, hot pink, cherries-and-cinnamon smell. On Youtube you can currently scroll through countless toplists a la "best fall scents for men", starting with everybody's darling Jeremy, Gents Scents, Demi Rawling, Redolessence up to Max Forti and many less known people. Its brutally forceful sillage ensuring it is the only fragrance still standing as you play "one last slow song for the lovers. In the end i gave it to him and i can safely say there is nothing wrong with the fragrance because in the air, on him, it smells just as good as i remember it the first time. The first spray transported me back to the early 1990s instantly and I really enjoyed the scent profile.

It also has a slight astringent accord, feels like something you could take a swig of when poorly (which is ironic since my journey with Joop Homme started when I had the nastiest cold! I was floored as I wouldn’t have guessed it was plain old joop that I’d gone through tons of in my prime clubbing years. Well, something must be wrong either with most people or with my nose or with the tester but this is one of the most obnoxious fragrances I've ever smelled. First impression: A gourmand scent at winter time, I immediately smell the chestnut (very successful), freshly roasted with a rich dose of cinnamon and subliminal sweetness. Having sniffed this on my hand today and immediately scrambled to find where I could pick up a bottle, I am happy to say I am in love with this classic fragrance.

I wear it usually (as a woman) in the winter and fall time, because the cinnamon note is so gorgeous on my skin and I find more appealing the EdT version in comparison to the EdP or Perfume versions, they are just too intoxicating for me. Unfortunately another strong note was the orange blossom, which is a tricky one for me, as it can go stale soap on me, which is what happened in this case, and was a bit of putting. To me, this is a strikingly sweet cinnamon anise / black licorice scent with a spicy floral background. After 4-6 hours, it softens up, gets cuddly and soft after being dominant and powerful, just like how i interpret myself sometimes (personal refernce to add fondness). Intense is harmoniously composed, the fragrance develops harmoniously, and none of its phases are annoying, although it lasts a long time and is clearly perceptible by the environment.
