About this deal

This book answered many questions from the first book and developed the characters we loved so much. We get to learn more from the praised Lord Farouk, more on his obsession with the book, Thorn's past and more development and use of Ophelia's powers. However, with some of the questions answered, we still get more questions and possible theories that will need to be answered (I hope) in future books.

Press quotes

Ophelie can travel from mirror to mirror, but above all, she can read the past of objects with her hands. She is not talkative, she is myopic as This is the first book of a series... so it ends at a pivotal point, but it is clearly just the beginning. We've gotten the best start, a well thought out solid one, that will serve us well through the entire series... and the slow burn on this romance is so realistic and raw that I can't help rooting for Thorn and Ophelia even though he is more a real man with all the flaws than most book boyfriends. This is a world that I want to get even more deliciously complex and strange... And I want to see Ophelia continue to grow and come into her own as a woman of action! Though this book did feel a little bit like a filler, the ending set up some questions to leave readers grasping for the next book and UGH I just need it. And filler or no, I found the mystery really interesting and I just love these books so it’s not like I could ever find them boring. Whilst it probably is closer to 4 stars, the way this world and these characters occupy my mind makes me bump it up just that little bit more. a mole, she is clumsy, and not very resourceful. However, she could have a few surprises in store for her close entourage… to begin with, for her fiancé.

Thorn is the taciturn fiancé of Ophélie and the Intendant of the Citacielle. A misanthrope, misogynist and maniac, he is a man of the

Before long, he realises that he would do almost anything to spare her humiliation. Language: English Words: 22,476 Chapters: 5/5 Comments: 18 Kudos: 58 Bookmarks: 6 Hits: 1,076 Peu importe la manière dont on nous le présente, la naïveté d'Ophélie, si agaçante en soi pour la bonne marche de l'histoire, se fait également l'alliée d'une représentation de la société complètement obsolète et, pour moi, dangereuse : Berenilde is the aunt of Thorn and a favorite of Farouk, not to say the queen of the favorites. She is as soft as her nephew is tough, but beware of what is hiding behind her wonderful smile. This pole intrige takes way too long, with too little texture for me. The knight is interesting as are Faruk and Artemis, Berenilde is also good, but writing this review slightly more than a week later I can't recall much about these side characters nor can I say what the resolution to this book of the quartet was, besides that I felt dissatisfied.

I knew once Archibald showed up and joked about taking advantage of Ophelia things weren't going to be good. I should've called it quits right then. As a French citizen, I find stereotypes about French people rather annoying so maybe let's not, I don't know, jump at the chance to prove them right? I mean, congrats! I have never gotten more insulting comments and threatening private messages than on this/because of this review. It's like you want people to think that French don't know how to deal with criticism, honestly? An spin off? - This Victoria thing makes me wonder if Christelle Dabos may write an spin off or another sequel years after from the perspective of Victoria. I’m not sure what other story she could tell aside from the fact that she knows where Thorn is. The other thing is that Christelle Dabos wrote on her blog that she wouldn’t write neither a sequel nor a complete book from Thorns perspective, this last ended up not being completely true since she did write two chapters throught Thorns perspective so I wonder if maybe she’s planning to do a spin off book from this.

Did we miss something on diversity?

Europa Editions UK has scooped Here, and Only Here, a new YA stand-alone novel by Christelle Dabos, the author of The Mirror Visitor Quartet (also Europa Editions). I just loved this the second time around as well that I had to round my rating up! I just have so much love for Ophelia and Thorn ❤️

Archibald is the Ambassador of the Citacielle and the owner of the Moonlight embassy. His favorite pastime ? Cheating on his male guests Anima is the home arch of Ophélie. The large family of the Animists lives there, and Artemis is the Family Spirit of Anima : she almost never leaves her astronomical observatory. She is more interested in the stars than in her own descendants. The Animists all have a affinity with objects : they can breathe life into them and repair them at will. However, each Animist tends to specialize none field. For instance, Ophélie is particularly gifted for reading the past of the objects, which earned her to become a museum curator until her engagement. In a unique universe, the world has been smashed up into different "arks". Ophelia is a young woman living on Anima. She has the ability to travel short distances through mirrors and can also read objects histories by touch. When against her wishes she is betrothed to a man on another Ark, Ophelia has to leave her secure and loving home and travel to a cold and desolate ark to marry him. Thorn is a powerful man, and has many enemies who will stop at nothing to see his and his future wife's demise. Interesting world and magic system but not explained enough. It could be due to us seeing it all through the eyes of a character who knows nothing so I hope to see more. Europa Editions has translated The Mirror Visitor remarkably well (a special thought for Hildegarde Serle), I know Here, and Only Here is in excellent hands.”
