About this deal

The main charaters of both are strong girls who are orphans and without a family but they find (or are found by) people who become precious to them and they end up becoming families.

However, one day, Kyoko accidentally discovers the horrible truth: the love of her life thinks of her as a 'plain and boring woman! Yet, I am writing this review today because these 2 days I was just making up my mind and sorting out my feelings about it.

Throughout the year Fumino and Kazuma- english teacher- become close and fall in love with each other. Kyoko moves to the big city with the prince of her dreams Shotaro; he wants to make it big in the entertainment business, so she works hard at many different jobs to support him as he achieves his dream. I think it has something to do with the girl being responsible for her age and the guy being almost perfect husband material.

If you like romance, bishies with soft hearts, and light comedy, you'll enjoy either of these manga. One day at a funeral, after Chiharu's mother remarried, Chiharu met the child from her new stepfather's previous marriage, Rui. I understand that other genres appeal to a different demographic so it may be different in that case, but speaking with Shoujo manga in mind, its target demographic is teenage girls. She became close with Akatsuki after realizing he resembles a character from one of her favorite historical otome games. There's definitely some romance going on between the two main characters, but the age gap leads them to be far to cautious about it.

Both main characters are strong, and though I don't think the girl in Skip Beat realizes it, wants some where to belong. Rui decided to live on her own after the death of the grandfather who raised her, and Chiharu decided to live with her. She is determined to somehow get onto the campus of Shoukei High School, one of those super super elite private high schools. Because of her father's debts, she's kicked out of her own home and has to rely on her own connections to survive. However, in Love So Life, this is a VERY slow burn, and is secondary to the character's desire to be a great babysitter.Outraged, Kyoko swears revenge - she will make it even bigger than Shotaro in the entertainment world.

But, I kind of like my female characters a little bit more rounded, where they have other things they like/are good at. Example: Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet - is a really popular shoujo manga and the age gap between the two character is 12 years (female protagonist is 16 and the male protagonist is 28). Other examples: Hirunaka no Ryuusei, Tsumasakidachi no Alice, Sakura to Sensei, Sensei Kuunshu, Kinkyori Renai .Both "House of the Sun" and "Love So Life" revolve around a young female character who finds family in an unsuspected way.
